Incredible Woman in Politics

I didn't know who to write about for a long time. As it is commonly known, the world of politics is dominated by men. Maybe that is why it is so difficult to come up with a famous female politician. Eventually, I dedided to write about Emma Goldman who was an incredible and controversial woman, both in private and political life.
Emma Goldman (June 27, 1869 – May 14, 1940) was an anarchist who came to the United States of America from the terrains of nowadays Lithuenia. Emma was born in Koyno in the Russian Empire (now Kaunas in Lithuania), a few years later she emigrated to New York City in 1885. She was one of the immigrants who travelled across the ocean for several months in order to find a better world. Unfortunately, the new world wasn't such a blessing as she had expected. Immigrants from Europe were exploited by the developing intustry which despretly needed hands to work. They lived in poor conditions without any possitive financial perspectives. Goldman was a fragile and strong at the same time woman who could not stand the obvious exploitation of the poor by the rich. That is why she turned towards the social movement and fought for rights at work including the time off, health and safety, trade unions, harassment and discrimination. She spent her whole life on seeking the solution for decreasing the social and financial gap between the poort and the rich.
Goldman was also one of the first feminists who fought for women's rights. In 1897 she wrote: "I demand the independence of woman, her right to support herself; to live for herself; to love whomever she pleases, or as many as she pleases. I demand freedom for both sexes, freedom of action, freedom in love and freedom in motherhood" which was a very revolting and innovating statement at that time.
Emma Goldman was always considered as a rebel woman who was not afraid of expressing her own opinions. One may agree or disagree with her views; however, nobody can deny her outstanding ability to fight for her believes, which I find worth admiring.
